- XJTAG Expert will be launched at Embedded World Nuremberg (28th February – 1st March 2012)
- XJTAG Expert combines industry-leading expertise in one test package
Cambridge, England, 21 February 2012 — XJTAG and Pico Technology will be launching the world’s first portable boundary scan and oscilloscope solution at Embedded World 2012.
The two companies have worked together to produce XJTAG Expert: an exciting development that integrates XJTAG’s leading boundary scan technology with the advanced digital features of the Pico Technology oscilloscope.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Pico Technology on the XJTAG Expert which packages two world-leading and complementary PC based systems together in one complete and cost-effective test solution,” said Simon Payne, CEO of XJTAG.
“As board designs have become more densely populated, restricted access to devices such as BGAs means oscilloscopes continually have to evolve. XJTAG Expert is the next logical step, combining oscilloscope and boundary scan technologies. This cost-effective solution will allow engineers to extend their testing capabilities with the maximum flexibility.”
Alan Tong, Managing Director Pico Technology, continued: “The PicoScope oscilloscope packs all of the capabilities of a traditional full-sized oscilloscope into a small, USB-powered circuit board. This makes it perfect for integration into a custom product like XJTAG Expert. The PicoScope software is also well-suited to this system, as it’s a Windows program that can run alongside the XJTAG software on a PC without modification.”
XJTAG Expert has an integrated high speed USB 2.0 to JTAG controller providing a high speed interface to the JTAG chain, alongside the following advanced digital features: Digital Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyser, Waveform and Function Generator and Serials Protocols Analyser.
XJTAG Expert is ideal for lab and field work. The compact and portable unit can work with a laptop PC. It requires two USB ports, and can supply power to low-power target systems, which means that testing can be done even without a source of mains power.
The unit contains the licence for the XJTAG system. This saves the user from being tied to one machine, giving them maximum flexibility in where they do their XJTAG testing. The product is also reconfigurable which means it can be used on multiple Units Under Test, giving significant cost savings.
XJTAG Expert is now available to purchase. Please visit XJTAG at Embedded World (Booth 4-140), or contact your local distributor for more information.

About XJTAG (old.xjtag.com)
XJTAG is a leading supplier of IEEE Std. 1149.1 compliant boundary scan development tools. Its JTAG (Joint Test Action Group) development system offers a highly competitive solution for designers and developers of electronic circuits. Utilising XJTAG allows the circuit development and prototyping process to be shortened significantly by facilitating early test development, early design validation, fast development of functional tests and test re-use across circuits that use the same devices. XJTAG is based in Cambridge, UK, and is part of the Cambridge Technology Group.
XJTAG was the first boundary scan solution to offer a common platform for use by design and development engineers, test engineers, contract manufacturers and field test engineers, providing testing of not only JTAG-enabled devices but non-JTAG devices as well.
