- XJTAG ‘Introduction to boundary scan’ workshops back for 2012
- First workshop scheduled for Wednesday 29th February
Cambridge, England, 19 January, 2012 — XJTAG’s free boundary scan training workshops have proved so popular that the company, a leading global supplier of IEEE Std. 1149.x boundary scan development systems, intends to run them again throughout 2012.
XJTAG started its free ‘Introduction to boundary scan’ workshops in 2008. Since then, almost 150 board designers and engineers have benefitted from working with XJTAG’s professional and knowledgeable technical team to learn how boundary scan testing can work for their company.
“Design, development and test engineers in many leading companies are using JTAG to see ever more deeply inside their systems without having to rely on expensive test fixtures,” said Stuart White, XJTAG’s workshop co-ordinator. “This is a great opportunity for engineers to see for themselves the speed, power and versatility of boundary scan. That’s why we are once again offering these practical hands-on workshops.”
The first ‘Introductory to boundary scan’ workshop of 2012 is scheduled for Wednesday 29th February at XJTAG’s Cambridge headquarters.
The full-day sessions are designed to provide design, development, test, and production engineers with a comprehensive introduction to boundary scan. XJTAG’s trainers will explain how boundary scan can be used right across the product lifecycle to improve designs, reduce respins and enhance test coverage, fault diagnosis and production yields on complex BGA-populated circuits.
The free workshops will give an overview of the IEEE 1149.x standard, demonstrate how to communicate with the JTAG chain and interact with JTAG devices such as FPGAs. They will provide an introduction to board testing using the JTAG chain, explain how to describe a circuit to enable JTAG testing and how to run an infrastructure connection test. Finally, the trainers will outline how to test non-JTAG elements of a board design using boundary scan.
The XJTAG development system is a cost-effective solution for debugging, testing and programming electronic printed circuit boards and systems throughout the product lifecycle. XJTAG reduces the time and cost of board development by allowing early development of reconfigurable test scripts that can be used from design validation through prototype debugging and on into manufacturing.
XJTAG is used across a variety of sectors by market-leading companies (designers, developers, OEMs and contract manufacturers) including, among others, Aeroflex, ARM, CRFS, Curtiss-Wright, DiagnoSYS, Thales UK, TVonics and Westinghouse Rail Systems.
